The start point for the best source of fleet information |
|
Only one thing has been changed in the Hyundai i30, but the result is a significantly improved business proposition.
By tweaking the gear ratios - third gear is now longer than before - Hyundai has managed to get its lower medium hatchback under the magic 120g/km barrier, meaning lower tax bills.
0-62 takes the same 11.6secs as before, and power remains at 115PS. The gearing change also brings a boost in fuel efficiency, which rises by 2.7mpg to 62.8.
Thanks to the retained power - Hyundai was originally going to offer the 90PS 1.6-litre diesel as its low-CO2 option - the i30 is still responsive at low speeds and assured on the motorway.
The one small tweak only makes you question why this low-emitting version didn't arrive sooner.
