CD appearing

As much as I'm loving life in the TT diesel, there is still room for a little irritation.

With hindsight we made a mistake with the spec.

The combination of (expensive) optional satnav and choosing an iPod docking station over six-disc CD changer has meant the only way to play a CD is to remove the nav disc.

Do that, however, and you can't have the map on-screen; don't do it, and you can't play a CD, which would be fine if the iPod station was at all user-friendly - after all, who needs big shiny CDs when all your music is in one little electronic box?

Unfortunately, though, the glove-box-mounted dock, which keeps the player charged, is fiddly to even slot an iPod into, and the interface is clumsy and won't let you select tracks or artists as you'd expect. Other systems, such as Jaguar's in the XF, show how it should be done.

We also find it easier to run the iPod through the headphone jack due to its location between the seats.
