Our Fleet Test Drive: Citroen C5 Tourer - 4th report

Date: 27 January 2009   |   Author: Guy Bird

Blank panels

Standard kit on the C5 Tourer's entry-level SX trim includes a laudable seven airbags and ESP, plus climate control and leather steering wheel.

Trouble is the one-size-fits-many dashboard - to allow for higher specs with more gadgets - also confronts you with a trio of 'blank' buttons on the left of the steering wheel and another on the right. It's the car equivalent of Jim Bowen's catchphrase "Here's what you could have won" from the Bullseye game show.

Calling Citroen reveals even top UK spec models only use two of those extra buttons so I'm already feeling better, but I expect most drivers would prefer not to be reminded daily of what they can't quite afford even if it only ends up being a parking gap measurer and some mood lighting.
