Our Fleet Test Drive: Citroen C5 Tourer - 5th report

One of car design's truest maxims is that customers fall in love with the exterior but stay in love because of the interior.
So it is with our Citroen C5 Tourer. Even in basic SX trim all the seats are very comfortable and getting a decent driving position is simple whether you're over 6ft or nearer 5ft - the slim and non-intrusive steering column is especially good for shorter drivers who need to sit closer to the steering wheel.
Driver controls are generally well positioned. The interior central locking button is a good example, placed usefully on the centre stack rather than set back awkwardly within the door panel (as is so often the case on other cars).
Driver information is also well thought through. The orange-on-black large digital speedometer and radio displays and controls look modern and clear, making speed limit adherence and finding LBC radio at the same time suitably easy.
Finally, and crucially for any estate car, the C5 Tourer has a big accessible boot (505-1462 litres) with a durable chrome-look scuff plate at its lip and a tonneau cover that fits into its slots without a fight. We like that.
