Our Fleet Test Drive: Ford Fiesta - 14th Report

Date: 06 November 2009   |   Author: Tom Webster

Fiesta in woods
Category: Supermini
P11D price: £14,020
Key rival: Vauxhall Corsa

When I set myself the job of bringing down the weekly cost of running the Fiesta, it was averaging 33.8mpg after 4700 miles.

A little over 2000 miles later, things are looking up. Some poor early tanks - thanks to the heavy right feet of several of the other BusinessCar drivers - mean the overall figure is still hovering around the 35.0mpg mark, but the last 10 fill-ups have been more wallet-friendly, averaging around 38.0mpg, with two tanks breaking the magic 40 barrier.

The task now is to get the overall figure up closer to that level.
