Gadgets can work in peculiar ways.

Take the 'either/or' nature of the Megane's 'hands-free card'. Lock the door with the exterior front door handle button and hands-free access is ensured next time. But choose the card's good old-fashioned plipper instead and the hands-free function deactivates - meaning you can't use that function again until you next fire up the engine and lock with the outside door button again. Other carmakers allow hands-free and plipper in any combination, as logically, different users may want to open the vehicle in different ways according to habit or context. I think this is needlessly odd.
