Renault Laguna Sport Tourer: Test Drive Review

P11D price: £21,705
Key rival: Ford Mondeo

Renault mid-life refresh for the Laguna, which the firm admits has been disappointing in sales terms so far, adds an interesting business-focussed trim level.

The TomTom spec, you'll be amazed to read, offers an in-built TomTom satnav system for £360 over the otherwise identically kitted-out Dynamique trim level. The system uses the Laguna's dashboard screen and is controlled by the switches located between the front seats. It's functional rather than spectacular, and a little clunky until you're used to working your way around it, but these aren't major complaints given that it's about a third of the price of most factory-fit units.

The Laguna's refresh itself does the usual in terms of new lights and front grille, giving the car a subtle shift from previous to current model. Its biggest problem is convincing the whole-life cost providers, as KwikCarcost predicts a poor 24.5% retained value for a model that would consequently cost 53.6p per mile to run.
