Mitsubishi L200 Warrior Long Bed Double Cab: One Minute Test Drive Review

Date: 11 January 2010   |   Author:

What's new: Mitsubishi has made its double-cab L200 pick-up more user-friendly with the Long Bed version. The load area is 180mm longer than the standard model. The extra length is in the rear overhang and not an extended wheelbase.

Excellent: For £500 the Warrior trim gets a 42PS power upgrade and much-improved spec levels, as well as the seven inches of extra load length.

Good: The extra power is noticeable and welcome, while the L200 remains one of the best-driving pick-ups with a decent interior to boot.

Average: The 4Life and 4Work L200s don't get the power upgrade or improved spec, but the extra load length only costs £250. Shorter service intervals than Nissan's Navara or Toyota Hilux also increase business costs.

Poor: The extra power will hit running costs. CO2 emissions for the Long Bed Warrior L200 go up from 225g/km to 253g/km, while economy dips by 4.2mpg to 29.4mpg.

Verdict: Handy for firms needing to carry long loads, and well-priced given the extra equipment.
