Our Fleet Test Drive: Ford Fiesta - 17th Report

On-road parking in London carries a large element of risk, as I found out recently when I returned to the Fiesta to discover that someone had clouted it and driven off without leaving any note.

Thankfully a decent amount of the marking came off with a good wash, but that still left an ugly-looking dent about the size of a CD. With more fleet managers reporting high end-of-contract charges, the obvious solution was to have the dent fixed before the Fiesta went back to Ford at the end of its time on BusinessCar fleet.

Photos were sent to Dent Wizard, the paintless dent repairers, so they could assess the damage. Dent Wizard claims it can sort any dent where the back of the panel can be reached and where the paint isn't broken, so we dropped by its HQ near Birmingham.

Head dent-repairer Adrian Moore set about pushing the dent out from behind, and then gently knocking it back into shape with custom-made tools. He was able to identify exactly which direction the car had been hit from and mould the metal back.

When he was finished the panel looked perfect again, and at £85 plus VAT it came out at a lot less than a replacement would have done.
