The point of any multi-purpose vehicle - or 'crossover' if you prefer - is its obvious intention for multiple purposes.

The new 3008's three-height adjustable boot is a shining example and one of the standout features of the car. Yes, a few cars before have had double-height adjustment, the excellent Honda Civic hatchback is just one that springs to mind, but the 3008's is cleverer still and not just because it has an extra level to offer; it's not the automotive equivalent of the razor with yet another unnecessary blade.

The highest load level makes things above the boot floor easy to reach while creating space for other stuff below that won't get crushed; the second level creates a flat floor for when the rear seats need to be folded to take in long or large loads; and the lowest level creates a really deep space for putting taller stuff in.

Throw in a fold-down tailgate that kids can sit on to change their footwear, or to help slide in large objects without stretching too far - a feature more akin to bigger and more expensive SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery - and in the 3008 you've got a very flexible and functional rear end. It's big with it, too, from 512 litres with the rear seats up to 1604 litres, seats folded. It's neat and very functional - just like a good MPV/crossover should be.
