At tyre fitting

I am determined not to get caught out this year when the weather turns bad.

The Mazda may be four-wheel drive, but it's still shod with more performance-oriented tyres. So after experiencing the difference a change of rubber can make in snowy conditions the last time the temperatures headed south, I've fitted a set of winter tyres from Continental.

Not only should these mean I never get stuck in the snow, they're also better in the wet and cold. In fact, Continental claims that in temperatures below 7°C the winter tyres have better grip than standard ones due to the rubber compound used.

Fitting a set of winters has also given us a chance to use Kwik-Fit Fleet's new tyre-storage service. For £40, Kwik-Fit will put your standard tyres in safe and secure storage and refit them in the spring.

Excellent service from Bagshot Kwik-Fit saw the winter tyres fitted to the Mazda in less than an hour, and now I'm about the only driver hoping it snows this winter.
