While our Focus is packed with clever tech up front, it feels like the boot has been a bit neglected. Aside from two plastic hooks that sometimes manage to stop carrier bags rolling around, there's nothing to suggest engineers tried to make life easier for owners.

Small fragile items are in particular peril, and I've taken to slotting my laptop bag behind the driver's seat rather than hearing it sliding round the boot on every bend, which is fine until I park somewhere and forget it's on show. A little compartment somewhere or even recessed area would have been a handy addition.
