Seat Exeo SE: Test Drive Review

Date: 04 August 2011

Exeo
Category: Upper medium
P11D price: £23,095

When the Exeo was launched in April 2009 it lacked an automatic transmission.

Seat has now rectified the situation and offers an auto gearbox mated to its 2.0-litre TDI 143hp engine. Costing £1500 more than its manual counterpart, the Multitronic loses out in emissions, at 153g/km versus 136g/km CO2 for the manual. It also means decreased fuel consumption from 54.3mpg to 48.7mpg.

If that doesn't put you off, then the gearbox is decent, as you'd expect from a transmission sourced from sister brand Audi. It smoothly shifts through the gears, with options for sport or manual modes, the latter able to controlled through steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

Seat has also increased rear passenger space by 44mm thanks to redesigning the front and rear seats and revised the rear lights, which now use LED technology.
