Audi Q3 2.0 TDI 140: Test Drive Review

Date: 19 July 2012   |   Author:

What's new: Audi has added a two-wheel drive version to its smallest off-roader, the Q3. Coming only with the 140hp 2.0-litre TDI?engine, the non-quattro model is the price entry-point of the range and competes with BMW's front-wheel drive X1.

Excellent: Audi's reputation for good quality interiors is maintained by the Q3, which gives an impression of understated class.

Good: A sub-£25,000 P11D price isn't bad for a premium small off-roader (even if it isn't all-wheel drive), while the 460-litre boot aids practicality. Real-world fuel economy appeared to be promising from our test.

Average: As is the case with most Audis, it's not the last word in driving enjoyment, but it's nothing offensive. A?CO2 figure of 137g/km impresses in isolation, but the 2WD?X1 manages 128g/km and is cheaper.

Poor: It won't take much to add significantly to the basic P11D price by dabbling in the options list, so it will pay to beware.

Verdict: At £1430 less than the equivalent 4x4 model, and a BIK?saving of £28 per month for a higher rate tax payer, the 2WD?Q3 is a very fleet-friendly addition.
