Chrysler Delta: Test Drive Review

Date: 22 February 2012

Chrysler's adoption of parent company Fiat's technology is now running deep and the latest Delta is essentially a rebadged Fiat Bravo. If you've driven the Fiat, then you've driven the Chrysler, and the Delta has the same Multiair turbocharged petrol engines that can be found in all manner of Fiats.

As the price gap between petrol and diesel widens, there's a case for engines like this 140hp 1.4-litre petrol. Even with a turbocharger it still needs working hard to see decent performance, and you're unlikely to achieve the claimed average of 49.6mpg as a result. CO2 stands at 132g/km, but cleaner 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesels are available.

SR spec as tested offers a reasonable amount of equipment for a lower medium hatchback such as climate and cruise control, all-round electric windows and privacy glass, but the P11D price of £20,325 is significantly more than the sub-£17,000 S model.
