Our Fleet Test Drive: Mini Countryman - 14th Report

The Countryman has been something of an opinion-splitter, although as the car moves towards the end of its time on our fleet, more seem to be positive than not.
One member of the BusinessCar team was told by his son that he wanted daddy to drive him to school in the morning - but only if he had the Mini that day. Another member of staff said he was impressed with how much of the fun aspect of Mini's heritage has been retained - both to drive and with the interior styling keeping aspects like the huge centrally mounted speedo and the switchgear - for what is a big car.
We're taking this as a positive, but "it's a Mini on steroids" was the contribution from a guy from Olleys Posh Wash, around the corner from our office, who cleansed the car of several weeks' worth of road grime.
Clean, the Countryman is better looking, though it's still a little more challenging on the eye than the rest of the Mini range. As more hit the road, familiarity is helping, but some of the cuteness has been lost as the car and the brand have grown. The character is still there though, and the Countryman has appeal, especially among small boys wanting to be driven to school.
