Chevrolet Spark LTZ: Test Drive Review

Date: 09 December 2013

P11D: £11,015

Chevrolet has made a series of minor updates to the Spark supermini with the introduction of a top-spec LTZ model.

The updates are few and far between, and consist of new alloy wheels, fresh bumpers, a leather steering wheel, cargo net, different paint schemes and some coloured door inserts.

There's nothing new on the drivetrain front, so the 81hp 1.2-litre petrol unit remains with 56.5mpg and 118g/km. Its miniscule dimensions make the Spark quite responsive to drive, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth and more modern budget superminis such as the Skoda Citigo are far more polished, cheaper to run and well packaged.

A top-spec Citigo Sport will also set you back £10,585 and 28.0ppm, where the Chevy comes in at £11,015 and 34.2ppm, but the Spark's age and badge suggests that it's the short-churn or pool car end of the market that may appeal most.

Verdict

Cheap and relatively cheerful. Likely to be liked by rental crowd.
