Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 2.0 e-HDI Dsport: One Minute Test Drive Review

Date: 09 May 2013   |   Author:

P11D: £32,145

What's new: The Citroen DS5 is now available at just 88g/km, with revamped software in full hybrid mode and improved energy recovery under deceleration being the prime reasons for the fall.

Excellent: The emissions levels are outstanding for a car of this size and power, and come with DS5 models in Dsign trim, or higher-spec versions fitted with 17-inch wheels - £500 less than the 102g/km 18in version.

Good: The DS5's interior quality and its styling are both distinctive and appealing. The cabin in particular feels like a premium model.

Average: The cost-per-mile figures suffer from a P11D price that rivals premium brands, but without the residual values to suit, instead reflecting the rest of the Citroen range. Ride quality is also not the DS5's strongest card.

Poor: The residual value fails to break 30% for this model, and there are also question marks about getting anywhere near the official 74.3mpg figure - more so than on other models.

Verdict

Excellent emissions figure and classy car let down by high P11D and depreciation.
