What's new: Mercedes has added a third model to its A-class-based products. As well as the hatchback and its B-class sibling, there's now a sleek front-wheel drive saloon joining the range, soon to be followed by a fourth model in the form of the GLA crossover.
Excellent: The CLA is a good-looking little thing, successfully converting the looks of the bigger CLS to a small four-door coupe form.
Good: This entry 122hp 1.6 petrol model is currently the cheapest on monthly BIK payments and on whole-life costs, as the diesel range doesn't currently begin until the 170hp CLA 220 CDI, which costs in excess of?£3000 more than this CLA 180 Sport
Average: Although reasonably potent at higher revs, the small-engined entry model feels exactly that when pulling away or getting up to speed.
Poor: Rear space isn't great, especially in terms of larger adults getting in and out without knocking their heads.
VerdictThe CLA gets prettier the more time you spend with it, and while it's quite expensive, for drivers looking to indulge themselves, it's well worth a look. |
