VW Caravelle Business Class: Test Drive Review

Date: 16 May 2013

P11D: £64,627

The VW Caravelle Business Class is a bit like a Tardis in that its miraculous interior is concealed by a relatively humdrum exterior.

Press a button on the keyfob to remotely open the sliding side doors and a luxurious passenger environment is revealed. Two pairs of two-tone leather seats face each other with a table featuring retractable sides in the middle.

The forward-facing pair are electrically adjustable and within easy reach of a chilled box that has holders for two bottle sizes, while the middle two swivel to face forward if so desired. Strips of lights and climate control switches are mounted on the roof above both seat rows.

Kit includes wireless internet access, Bluetooth and a three-pronged plug socket. Front and rear parking sensors come with an excellent reversing camera, and the seven-speed auto 'box is immaculate. The downside is that excluding VAT it costs a whopping £53,856.

Verdict

Fantastic on the inside but that price is an issue.
6/10
