Alfa Romeo Giulietta One Minute Test

The Giulietta has been refreshed and the Exclusive replaces the Veloce in the trim range. The 2.0-litre diesel has been given a power boost by 10hp to 150hp, while CO2 has dropped by 9g/km to 110g/km, putting the car into the 18% BIK band.
Excellent
The drop in CO2 is good news, while 67.3mpg and a power output of 150hp are quite impressive, putting the car on an even keel with premium competitors.
Good
The P11D price is the lowest in the basket of models Alfa would like to be compared against, including the BMW 1-series, Audi A3 Sportback and VW's Golf. It's quite engaging to drive too, with sharp steering.
Average
The interior trim has been improved on this refresh, but it's a bit dull from what you might expect from a hot-blooded Italian brand. The boot is a touch smaller than competitors' at 350 litres.
Poor
A lack of confidence in the product from the value setters leaves RVs at 29.6%. This means it's cheaper to run the A3, 1-series and Golf on a CPM basis.
Verdict
Improvements to the efficiency of the diesel make it competitive, but on an even playing field there's no Italian flair to make the Giulietta stand out.
