Honda Civic Tourer One Minute Test

Honda has expanded into the lower medium estate market with the new Civic Tourer, a sleek and yet large estate that's fitted with the firm's 120hp1.6-litre diesel engine.
Excellent
The boot is absolutely huge, with the 624 litres beating the Ford Focus Estate by 148 litres and the Vauxhall Astra by 124 litres, although the new Peugeot 308 SW trumps it (see p27, opposite).
Good
Honda's 120hp diesel is a massive return to form and is both refined and powerful, given its modest horsepower, while also emitting just 103g/km in this top trim level, dropping to 99g/km in S and
S Plus trims.
Average
The dashboard layout isn't as user-friendly as most rivals, especially the audio system with everything loaded into the touch-screen.
Poor
This top-spec model isn't where the value is in the Civic Tourer range. Although well-kitted, it's nearly £4000 more than a Titanium X Navigator-spec Ford Focus Estate, and simply not worth the extra.
Verdict
The Tourer is good-looking, practical and efficient, but lower trims represent more value.
