Nissan Note 1.2 DIG-S 98 Acenta: Test Drive Review

Date: 22 May 2014

Nissan is trying to move the Note down from its previous supermini-MPV position into the heart of the supermini sector, just above the company's Micra.

The Japanese brand is predicting 30% of Note sales will go into the fleet sector, while this 98hp petrol model gets under 100g/km - so just £26 per month for a lower-rate tax payer - yet offers good around-town performance.

Equipment levels are impressive, including Bluetooth and privacy glass on this mid-spec model, and Nissan has made available a host of safety kit.

The Note can't quite match the Ford Fiesta for interior quality or driver appeal, but it is well-designed, spacious, and comes with a huge 437-litre boot that outpoints many cars from the sector above.

This petrol engine makes the most sense of the range, with the 90hp diesel powerplant not being significantly enough more efficient to make up the £1000 price premium.
