Audi Q3 One Minute Test

Audi has added a new 150hp petrol engine - complete with its Cylinder on Demand technology that shuts down two cylinders under light load - to the faclifted Q3 small SUV range. Other changes include revised headlights, and Audi's Drive Select system is now standard across the range.
Excellent
An impressive residual value of 48.6% puts the Q3 in a strong cost-per-mile position against its main rival, BMW's X1.
Good
Emissions of 136g/km for the new engine are decent, dropping 9g/km from the previous model that didn't have Cylinder on Demand technology. The engine is also decent, if loud under duress, and mates well with the S-tronic automatic gearbox. Interior quality is also up to usual pleasing Audi standards.
Average
Both the interior space and the driving experience are no better than average, and the X1 out-drives its Audi counterpart.
Poor
Like all premium small SUVs, the Q3 doesn't look particularly cheap. Stray away from the premium badge and there are cheaper, larger, more practical and better-equipped alternatives.
Verdict
A classy little SUV with a decent engine that's relatively efficient, although still over 130g/km. Great RVs help make an enticing costs package.
