Land Discovery Test Drive Review

The latest model year development of Land Rover's oversized seven-seat off-roader gets a potent yet more frugal 3.0-litre diesel engine, taking it nearer to a 200g/km emissions figure, with the Disco now hitting 203g/km.
Why is it interesting?
The Discovery remains hugely spacious and comfy, offering a very high driving position that gives you a commanding view of the road ahead. It now comes with just one engine option - a 256hp diesel that gets it to 62mph in a brisk 9.3secs.
How are the running costs?
Off-roaders are never cheap to run, but 36.7mpg economy - more than 10mpg behind German rivals - and 123.5p per mile costs make the Discovery a very pricey prospect. Opt for SE Tech trim, however, and costs drop below 100p per mile, making it just a few pence more than BMW and Audi rivals.
Any other business?
HSE Luxury spec includes toys such as TV tuner, a heated steering wheel, and screens in the back of the front headrests with accompanying wireless headphones, which somewhat justify the high price of this range-topping model.
