The Superb is a supersized hatchback that boasts a huge interior, strong refinement levels and great value, along with impressively economical motors.
Why is it interesting?
Diesels may be the obvious choice, but the Superb's 116g/km turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol is a viable fleet option, with 56.5mpg economy. Surprisingly, this small motor has no trouble powering this oversized machine, while SE-L Executive trim is absolutely packed with standard kit.
How are the running costs?
The Superb undercuts comparatively Spartan - and much smaller - Audi and BMW rivals by 3p per mile, the much slower Vauxhall Insignia by 2p, the Mazda 6 by 4p and the Ford Mondeo by 5p per mile, making it a very strong value business machine.
Any other business?
The 1.4-litre motor provides plenty of low-down power and copes well with motorways, while refinement levels are very good at speed. Roadholding is relatively impressive too, despite the Superb's focus on comfort. The interior, meanwhile, feels suitably upmarket and offers an enormous amount of space.
