VW Polo Bluemotion Test Drive Review

Volkswagen's Bluemotion range of low-emission models has for the first time extended to a petrol variant with the introduction of the 95hp 1.0-litre Polo, which gets a number of unique features including alloys, bumpers and grille bespoke to the Bluemotion model.
Because of petrol's dominance in the supermini segment, VW isn't offering a diesel Bluemotion Polo.
Why is it interesting?
The car gets into the lowest conventional BIK band at 94g/km, which means a £33 per month bill for lower-rate tax payers.
How are the running costs?
A residual value of 32.1% is better than Ford or Peugeot rivals, but both are within a couple of percentage points. The VW is also more efficient than either, and that means a cost per mile advantage for the Polo.
Any other business?
The Bluemotion is pretty well equipped, with Bluetooth, air-conditioning, cruise control, USB connectivity and digital radio, making it easy to live with day-to-day. The little three-cylinder petrol engine offers enough power to make the Polo fine for longer journeys.
