10 things we learned about the Rolls-Royce Dawn

Al Suttie sits back and enjoys the unique pleasures of the Rolls-Royce Dawn.
1 - Let's get this straight from the start: any meaningful comparison here is pointless. If you want a Dawn, you'll have one.
2 - We wouldn't blame you, either, as it's a fabulous car to drive or be driven in thanks to its comfort.
3 - Calm, confident progress is the order of the day in the Dawn. Forget that precision handling nonsense here - this is all about the waft.
4 - That's not to say the Dawn handles like a galleon. It grips well and steers accurately, but it's mission is to deliver you feeling unharried.
5 - The barely audible 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 makes sure there's barely a murmur from under the bonnet, while the eight-speed auto is super smooth.
6 - With the soft-top roof raised, the Dawn is brilliantly insulated from outside noise, adding to its stately demeanour.
7 - As for the cabin, the driver has the best seat in the house with a great view down the bonnet to the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.
8 - The three other occupants are also very well looked after and this is a genuine four-seat cabriolet rather than a 2+2.
9 - The uncluttered dash and driving environment are restrained elegance personified and the armchair seats oh-so comfy.
10 - Of course, all of this comes at a price. Gauche to ask? Well, just this once and it's £264,000 allied to 19.8mpg and 330g/km.
