10 things we learned about the Suzuki S-Cross

Suzuki's keenly priced S-Cross has impressed us before, but can it win over Al Suttie in 4x4 form?
1 - Let's be blunt, I'm not a fan of the new chrome proboscis on the S-Cross or the droopy-eyed headlights.
2 - Styling aside, though, this is a car that works its way into your affections by being just so damned capable.
3 - Rough tracks? No worries. City driving? A doddle thanks to this car's automatic transmission. Performance? Decent thanks to 140hp and 162lb ft.
4 - The S-Cross shares its platform with the Swift and has the same fun handling, albeit with a bit more body lean.
5 - Compared to a dowdy Qashqai or leaden Vauxhall Mokka X, the Suzuki is easily the more entertaining car to live with.
6 - That does mean putting up with some cheaper looking plastics, but we know from experience they'll be durable.
7 - You also get a good driving position with excellent vision, helped by the 15mm raised ride height over the previous S-Cross.
8 - There's no shortage of kit, either, thanks to a panoramic sunroof and leather seats all included in the sub-£25,000 price.
9 - The glass roof pinches a bit of headroom in the back for adults, but it's not a deal breaker.
10 - A more pertinent issue is the infotainment screen's functionality, which could be quicker and easier to navigate.
