The ICE version of the GV70 came first, but like with the G80, with the current BIK rates the way they are, it's the Electrified version that makes the most sense. Outside, it looks virtually the same apart from the sealed version of the family grille, where the front-mounted charging flap is carefully hidden. Standard wheels are 19in, but our test car was fitted with optional 20in ones. At the back, there's a specific rear bumper with diffuser.

Previous experience tells us that Genesis does interiors very well, and whilst this model may be electrically powered, there's the same attractive design - with the high levels of finish and European feel. Look more closely, and you'll spot the 'Boost' button on the bottom spoke of the steering wheel. Elsewhere, the interior feels spacious, the driving position comfortable and the seats supportive. The only small compromise is the slightly smaller boot, but you do get an extra 25-litre 'Frunk' in return, where the engine is on ICE models. This stowage area is perfect for storing the charging cable.

Our Sport spec version of the Electrified GV70 is the only one available in the UK, but this price is comparable to the popular M Sport version of the iX3, which is priced at £64,165. A single-motor version rumoured at the launch has so far not materialised, so part of the reason for this price is that the Electrified GV70 is only available with a 77.4kWh battery and a pair of electric motors. Still, considering the price, the performance is impressive. Max power is almost too much, with 483hp in boost with 700Nm of torque. Despite all this performance and a 0-62mph acceleration figure of 4.2 seconds, this Genesis EV is capable of a 283-mile range. We saw around 250 miles during cool and wet conditions when we had this car, and it is comparable with rivals - we wished for more! The Electrified GV70 can accept charging speeds up to 240kW, charging from 10-80% in just 18 minutes and all with a 2% BiK figure. Owners also have access to Shell Recharge points, plus a more preferential charging rate of 24p per kWh, thanks to another tie-up with Ionity.

Another reason to choose the Electrified GV70, is that it is certified to tow up to 1,800kg. At a more recent Genesis European driving event, we had the chance to drive the car with a substantial horsebox behind it. Even more of a test, we drove in heavy rain! We can report that despite the wet weather, this Genesis had no traction issues, taking off or coming to a stop tidily. Obviously, this extra weight hits the range, but this Genesis is an accomplished tow car.

As you'd expect considering the performance, the Electrified GV70 feels quick right from the start and eerily quiet. In fact, our test car was fitted with £3,560 of Innovation Pack, which includes active road noise cancelling that works very well. At its happiest on the motorway, this Genesis EV is fitted with standard fit adaptive suspension with clever road scanning tech. The adaptive suspension doesn't quite work as well on twistier A roads, where the system seems to struggle with the car's weight (2,845 kg). Elsewhere, the steering could do with more feel, and the optional 20in wheels equal an unsettled low-speed ride.

Genesis's i-Pedal system, which gives one-pedal driving, is worthy of particular mention. It works very well, with the Smart Regeneration System 2.0 braking system automatically adjusting regen levels to road conditions.

It might have the power, but we're not sure the rest of this Genesis's package is worthy of its Sport badge. The only time it feels more dynamic is when Boost mode is activated - but it's a shame the handling and steering lack precision.

Ignore the Sport badge and overcomplicated name, and the Electrified GV70 is another great Genesis EV, with decent range, practicality, and tech.
