My commute takes in a stretch of 50mph average speed-limited roadworks on the M25.
The first time I approached it in the A3 Sportback I did what I always do, which was to feel around the steering wheel for a button to engage cruise control.
After several seconds of repeated glances down at and presses of the buttons and thumb-wheels, I decided it must be on one of the stalks: cue windscreen wipers, full beam and indicators, but no, I had to keep my foot feathered on the accelerator.
It turns out that cruise control isn't standard - it's a £225 option - but surely should be on a premium core fleet car?
