A long-weekend family trip to the Isle of Wight illustrated the new Ford Mondeo's comfortable cruiser capabilities.
Having made the most of the big boot by filling it with piles of randomness that may or may not be needed and picking through the bank holiday Friday night traffic to Portsmouth, we hopped on the ferry for the short crossing.
Over the next few days, the car's strengths as an all-rounder were proven, handling the narrow rolling roads between our cottage and the zoo, steam railway, beer festival and pub as capably as it does the day-to-day motorway drudgery.
