Our Fleet Test Drive: Honda Civic - 6th report

Date: 07 October 2014   |   Author: Tony Rock

Played 'chicken' with the 'miles to go' fuel display the other week - and lost. As I was running late for my Sunday evening football refereeing, I figured that even if the readout of around 50 miles left to empty was only roughly accurate, that was enough for a 16-mile round trip, then fill up at my local petrol station.

But no sooner had I set off then the remaining miles started falling faster than Luis Suarez after a smack in the teeth from an Italian defender's shoulder, at a ratio of about five miles for every one travelled. Result? I had to turn back, making me later still. Fortunately, economy of 53.0mpg proves it's a Honda quirk and not a thirsty engine.
