Our Fleet Test Drive: Kia Optima - 17th Report

Date: 03 April 2013

I've calculated that the Kia has saved me in the region of 40 minutes of engine idling time this month. I've been in a lot of cars where the stop/start doesn't work well and you get the 'auto stop deactivated' signal - even after a long motorway slog where it has hardly been used and when the aircon is off - but the Optima is more than happy to oblige and switch off on cue.

It also gives a countdown of how much time the engine shuts down for, which, after an average of around one minutes' downtime at traffic lights during each commute, has given me a total to be proud of.
