Our Fleet Test Drive: Mazda 3 - 18th report

Longer relationships expose individual foibles, and having crossed the 10,500-mile mark in our trusty 3, two quirks caught my attention.

Firstly, put the handbrake on and the daytime running lights go off, and vice versa, for no apparent reason. If this curious on-off-on ritual preserves stop-start system battery power it must be marginal, and the lights remain extinguished with the engine running. The next model facelift will rectify that oddity.

Secondly, when a prudent 'road may be icy' fascia alert pops up it conceals the external temperature reading. Some form of graduated numerical colour coding that always shows, in addition to the alert, would be preferable.
