When engineering's done right, you're not aware of it - it just works. And that's the case with the Mazda 6's stop/start system.

The only reason I've 'noticed' it recently is because I've driven a couple of cars that have had very noticeable stop/start systems. Not only were they noisy, where the 6 is quiet, but they were also slow to restart, while the Mazda restarts very rapidly.

This means that even if you're first in the queue at the traffic lights, the engine fires up quickly enough to move off when the lights go green, if you've dipped the clutch on amber.
