Our Fleet Test Drive: Mazda CX-3 - 17th report

Date: 21 June 2016   |   Author: Guy Bird

Equipment: 6 airbags, satnav, DAB radio, auto lights and wipers, climate control, heated front seats, rear privacy glass, rear parking sensors, cruise control, city brake system, lane departure warning
Options: Ceramic metallic paint (£540)

I'm a fan of the CX-3's clean and swoopy exterior design but a downside to its shallow-depth side windows - especially as they narrow towards the rear - is a restricted view for passengers.

'Get over it', you might say, but there is evidence to suggest a smaller window view causes more car sickness in kids who can't see out as well due to their shorter height, and it could explain why even my five-foot-plus 12-year-old felt queasy on a recent family mission.

And no, I hadn't driven as if tackling a rally stage. Given the CX-3 is a family car, maybe it's something to consider tweaking for the redesign?

Verdict

  • Understated
  • Good-looking exterior
  • Sometimes fiddly satnav
