Our Fleet Test Drive: Mazda CX-3 - 3rd report

Date: 26 August 2015   |   Author: Tony Rock

Equipment:6 airbags, satnav, DAB radio, auto lights and wipers, climate control, heated front seats, rear privacy glass, rear parking sensors, cruise control, city brake system, lane departure warning
Options: Ceramic metallic paint (£540)

I'd thought the CX-3's exterior colour was just 'white' until a friend pointed out to my wife she liked this car's particularly subtle pearly shade. "Really?" I said. "But it's just white." "Er - no it's not," my wife replied, which the friend repeated when I next saw her, at our place for a family Sunday lunchtime get-together.

"Okay - I'll prove it," I said confidently. "I've got the specification paperwork from Mazda, which will clear this up." And it did - in their favour. The paint job is a 'Ceramic Metallic' and costs £540.

If it's not quite the white you like, Mazda also does 'Crystal White Pearlescent' for the same money, or 'Arctic White Solid' for nothing. My Sunday lunchtime dessert was a bowlful of humble pie.
