Our Fleet Test Drive: Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - 4th report

Date: 23 October 2014   |   Author: Tristan Young

The summer holidays have meant trips further afield for the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The result is that there's been less opportunity to top up power with electricity and more filling with petrol. This has led to a hike in cost per mile, although not as bad as I feared, mainly because I'd forgotten how much less petrol costs compared with diesel.

The total cost per mile for electric and petrol combined stands at 14.2p. That's the equivalent of 44mpg in a conventional diesel at today's pump prices. I think that's a result given the size of the Outlander and the minimal 5% BIK tax band cost
