The best thing about your alarm when it goes off in the morning is that you can turn off the blasted thing. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the Captur's numerous alerts, bleeps and notifications.
Depending on which way you look at it, the Captur's R-Link technology is a great bit of kit that helps fleets to put safety notifications in place for drivers or it's an overly intrusive annoyance doing nothing to quash drivers' fears they're being monitored by Big Brother.
When on the motorway, a notification will bleep for going over the speed limit, for speed cameras and for average speed checks. The bleeps for the average speed check go off for the duration you are in an average speed zone, even when driving at the legal limit, and it dips the volume on the radio every time.
Navigating through the R-Link's set-up menus on the touchscreen display reveals an option to customise the settings, even to the point of setting what speed you would like the alerts to play if the car drives beyond it. You can select tick boxes for off for each alert, but every time I have tried it the alerts persist. Even changing the type from "beep" to "silence" does not result in the alert's removal. The only way I have found to remove the more continuous alerts is to turn the volume wheel.
