Our Fleet Test Drive: Renault Captur - 8th report

Date: 28 October 2014   |   Author:

The great thing about the constant development of modern combustion engines is you don't have to sacrifice performance for efficiency.

While our Captur is a really strong performer among its rivals in terms of running costs, with a CO2 output of 95g/km and achievable fuel efficiency in the mid-50s mpg, I've really started to notice the lack of grunt from the 90hp 1.5 dCi. My commute is full of stops and starts, and jumping in and out of different test cars means the 13.1 seconds it takes to get to 60mph is even more noticeable than usual. If Renault could boost power slightly with no impact on running costs, it would be the perfect urban runabout.
