I like keyless entry and start, but all carmakers that use it must find a solution for what happened to our family.

Just before a day out we switched drivers, so my wife dropped the guys at the cinema while the gals went shopping, but five minutes into the film I received a flurry of calls and texts because I had the keyfob in my pocket, which my wife realised after turning off the ignition.

Fortunately, the girls could walk over for the keys, leaving the car unlocked, but if they'd driven further away it could have been a nightmare. Yes, the car issues warnings, but for the second time in four years - we had a similar escape with a Toyota Auris - we've missed those while negotiating busy car park
