Our Fleet Test Drive: Suzuki S-Cross: 9th report

Date: 07 July 2015   |   Author: Tony Rock

Voice command can be a hit and miss affair on most vehicles, but if first impressions are anything to go by, than the Suzuki S-cross is definitely more hit than miss.

On a trip to Oxford I realised as we closed in our destination that I actually wasn't so sure of exactly where I was supposed to be end up, so turned to the satnav for assistance.

Sensibly, it can't be operated while on the move, and, stuck in rush-hour traffic, I didn't have the time to find somewhere to pull over. Given previous experiences of less than helpful voice-control set-ups on other vehicles,

I turned to the Suzuki's voice-activated system more in hope than expectation (press the button in the top left-hand corner to turn it on, or use the one on the steering wheel) and was amazed to find that I was understood first time, and duly directed to the correct address.

Subsequent attempts at using the S-cross voice command haven't always hit this initial 100% success rate (although I'm finding this way of navigating around my iPod podcasts very cool), but, anecdotally at least, it feels better than any other system I've previously encountered.
