Our Fleet Test Drive: Vauxhall Ampera - 6th Report

There's a little aerodynamic flap at the front of the Ampera that scares the life out of first-time drivers or passengers, and sometimes even pedestrians.

Sited under the bumper, it catches on speed bumps and even larger divots in the road, making a pretty loud grinding noise that sounds like you've grounded the car.

It's flexible, so isn't doing any damage but I'm curious as to whether the aerodynamic benefit outweighs the emotional trauma of that feeling, however brief in this case, when you think you've done the first bit of damage to your new car.
