The start point for the best source of fleet information

Our Fleet Test Drive: Volkswagen Golf GTE - 3rd report

Date: 25 February 2016   |   Author: Guy Bird

Getting togrips with unfamiliar infotainment screens is par for the course for a 21st century motoring journalist.

But the VW GTE makes it easier. Case in point: when your hand approaches the bottom of the screen, a previously hidden menu bar virtually appears - as if by magic - sensing your need to access new information options, from satnav destinations to radio stations.

Then it's just a matter of pressing the touchscreen icon you desire and on into the sub-menus for a result. It's a really neat feature and when your fingers move away, the bar disappears as swiftly as it arrived, leaving the screen refreshingly uncluttered once again. Nice.

Verdict

  • High tech in a familiar package
  • Over-sensitive sensors
