Our Fleet Test Drive: Insignia 2.0 CDTi 140 Tech Line

Date: 26 May 2014

Using an iPod in the Insignia is simple. The USB slot is located in the space under the armrest, and allows you to control the device using either the touch-screen in the middle of the dash, or via the steering wheel controls or with voice recognition. It generally works well.

However, on an early trip I shut the armrest with the iPod inside, then found at the end of my journey that I couldn't open it again.

Much swearing, fiddling with various tools and frustration followed. When I did succeed, I saw that the iPod lead had been trapped in the catch, preventing me from accessing storage area. Note to self: fully tuck in cable before shutting the armrest.
