First diesel Chevy springs into the UK

One of the few remaining non-sporting car brands not to offer a diesel in its UK engine line-up soon will.
Officially unveiled this week at the Bologna Motor Show, the Chevrolet Lacetti five-door and Station Wagon will offer a 121PS 2.0-litre common-rail turbodiesel option by late spring 2007. Due to the delayed Captiva 4x4 diesel, the models will become Chevy's first diesel cars to be sold in the UK.
A new chrome-finished radiator grille will distinguish the models from their petrol counterparts. With 58.8mpg and 149g/km CO2 in the hatch and 52.3mpg and 158g/km in the Station Wagon, both TCDi units (not to be confused with Ford's TDCi) are Korean-made and promise frugal and tax-efficient motoring.
Chevrolet already offers a diesel in its executive Epica car in continental Europe. Prices will be confirmed nearer to the date but expect a £600-900 premium over the 1.8 petrol versions.
