Jaguar adds four-cylinder petrol to F-Type sports car

Date: 12 April 2017   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Jaguar has expanded its F-Type sports car's engine line-up by adding a four-cylinder engine to the range.

It will be the first time the F-Type has been powered by a 300hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit - the most powerful four-pot fitted to a production Jaguar.

The addition of the four-cylinder engine also makes it the most frugal F-Type, emitting 163g/km of CO2 with a 16% improvement in fuel economy (to 39.2mpg) compared with the 340hp 3.0-litre V6 variant.

Due to go on sale in the spring, priced from £49,900, it marks the arrival of the 2018 model year F-Type, which features redesigned bumpers, while the four-cylinder model comes with a single tailpipe to distinguish it from the rest of the range.

The F-Type also features an array of driver-assistance systems as standard, including autonomous emergency braking and lane-departure warning, with lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive speed limiter and driver condition monitor systems available as optional extras.

"Introducing our advanced four-cylinder engine to the F-Type has created a vehicle with its own distinct character. Performance from an engine of this size is remarkable and is balanced with improved fuel efficiency and affordability, making the F-Type experience more accessible than ever before," said Ian Hoban, Jaguar F-Type vehicle line director.
