Hyundai reveals safety kit for new Santa Fe

Date: 25 January 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Hyundai has released the first details of its upcoming new Santa Fe SUV, with a focus on active safety technology.

The new car is set to be revealed in full next month, before making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, with Hyundai so far only revealing the teaser image seen above.

The new Santa Fe will be the fourth generation of the model, which first appeared on the roads in 2001.

It is Hyundai's largest SUV, sitting above the Tucson and the more recently launched compact Kona in the range.

Hyundai says the new Santa Fe will feature a comprehensive package of its latest active safety features under its Smart Sense technology umbrella.

Among these is Rear Occupant Alert, which monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alerts drivers to their presence when leaving the car.

Also set for inclusion in the new Santa Fe is a rear-cross traffic collision warning system enhanced with an automatic braking function, meaning that when reversing out of a narrow area with limited visibility, the car can not only warn the driver of an approaching vehicle, but also apply the brakes itself to avoid a collision.

All other details about the new Santa Fe, including engines and prices, are yet to be revealed.
