Vauxhall Grandland gets mild hybrid powertrain option

Date: 14 December 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has opened orders for a new mild hybrid version of its Grandland SUV.

The new powertrain pairs a 136hp petrol engine with a gearbox-integrated electric motor capable of adding up to 28hp.

The motor allows the Grandland to travel short distances on electric power alone in circumstances where little torque is required, such as when manoeuvring or driving at less than 18mph in city traffic.

It also assists the petrol engine when accelerating.

Vauxhall says the new powertrain, which features a six-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, offers fuel economy of 50.4-51.3mpg, compared with 43.4-44.1mpg with the current petrol automatic. CO2 emissions are also reduced, from 144-147g/km to 124-127g/km.

The new powertrain is available with the Design, GS, and Ultimate equipment grades, priced at £32,415, £34,675, and £38,325 respectively. The first deliveries are expected early next year.
